Brooklyn Partial Hospitalization Program Minimize

Psychiatric hospitalization is a traumatizing experience for both the consumer and family. The goal of the Partial Hospitalization Program is to achieve stabilization of the mentally ill consumer while keeping them rooted in their community. Consumers of mental health services who are beginning to decompensate and have a primary psychiatric diagnosis resulting in moderate to severe impairment of daily functioning can benefit from our exciting program.

PHP is a relatively new treatment modality that is both clinically and cost effective. Our program provides services for 4-6 weeks, and the small environment is conducive to progress. The program can accept consumers from 18-65 years of age with Medicaid or other insurance who are not currently using alcohol or drugs or acting out aggressively.

PHP offers structure that results in a safe and secure environment and freedom to make independent choices in activities. Opportunities also exist for consumers to socialize freely outside of groups. At the end of six weeks therapists make appropriate referrals for clients, which include mental health clinics, day treatment programs, vocational training and clubhouses.

PHP offers the following services and groups:

 Psychiatric evaluation
 Medication management
 Individual therapist assigned
 Group therapy
 Drama and art therapy
 Food preparation and lunch daily
 Health class
 Addictive Behaviors group
 Relaxation group
 Living with Mental Illness group
 Skills Building group
 Socialization activities
 Case management
