The Queens Mental Health Clinic has been serving the Latino community in Queens for over 16 years and has expanded services to meet the dire needs expressed by the growing, low-income, largely monolingual Latino population in Queens. The clinic's services are culturally and linguistically appropriate. Services include psychiatric evaluations, medication management and individual, family and group therapy with the goal of improving the functioning of the individual within the context of family, school, work and community. Play therapy is offered to children, if appropriate. Unless counter indicated, every effort is made to help the individual remain in the family or community. The clinic also operates a special MICA component for clients affected with co-occurring disorders of mental illness and chemical addiction.

The Peer Advocate Program at the Queens Mental Health Clinic provides linkages between clients and various programs within the agency. The Peer Advocate Program represents and provides support to clients to negotiate various external systems such as welfare, medical services, courts, etc. The program also offers to translate documents that clients need to fill out to access services, and it runs a pantry for our clients.

The Family Support Program offers the Latino community the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding about the emotional and physical development of children. Through education and case management, it assists families in improving communications in the home and in maximizing family functioning and parenting skills.
